Film has the awesome power of being immediately confrontational, infusing the visual with a crackling mirage of truth, beauty, and illusion. From the necessary suspension of disbelief in order to appreciate the fictional plot, through to the disbelief and anger felt via the foundation rocking facts of seminal political documentaries, the lover of cinema and film knowns the galvanising and transportational effect of a message well delivered via this medium. In calling for you to submit your short film to Film For Humanity on World AIDS Day, 2007, we are calling for you to engage us with the same awesome and life-changing power.
We are calling for you to enter your short film to help us raise money for The Global Fund, an organisation dedicated to allocating the funds needed to combat AIDS, Malaria, and Tuberculosis around the world.
Submissions to Film For Humanity are not genre-specific and, as with Music For Humanity, we believe that an eclectic range of styles embodies the dynamic nature of the human spirit. Comedy; animation; drama; documentary – whatever style you work in is ok for us to work with.
Submissions must be related to the overall theme of a common humanity, yet entries related to the specific topic of AIDS are highly encouraged. The total running time of your film should be no longer than 10 minutes. In order to have your movie submitted to The Blog Honour Roll, please ensure that it is uploaded to the Film For Humanity group on Youtube.com.
To have yourself stand out more in The Blog Honour Roll, the catalogue for entrants of Film For Humanity’s World Aids Day 2007 event, please submit a short biography of any length up to 500 words, along with a photo/promo shot (can be a jacket design or flyer) of approximately 200 x 200 pixels in size.
All pieces will be voted upon by the Web For Humanity audience via online polling, for ultimate inclusion in the inaugural two-DVD Film For Humanity boxed set, to be made available through online publisher Lulu.com on December 10, 2007. 100% of all profits from the sale will be donated to The Global Fund.
Please be advised that profane or erotic content will not be linked to. All submissions must be entered no later than 11pm on Friday, November 30, 2007, for inclusion on the day (December 1, 2007). We look forward to your submission, and wish you good luck with your entry.
