Have you got a great inaudible feeling in you? What sort of purpose drives you to write? How deeply can you connect with the universal through your writing? If you can give great answers to all of these questions, then we need you to submit a piece of writing to Writers For Humanity on World AIDS Day, 2007.

We are calling for you to enter your piece to help us raise money for The Global Fund, an organisation dedicated to allocating the funds needed to combat AIDS, Malaria, and Tuberculosis around the world.

Submissions to Writers For Humanity are not genre-specific, as the capacity to tell a story that captures the essence of the prevailing human spirit is possible to portray in any form of writing. Short stories, essays, anecdotes and true to life accounts are only the tip of the iceberg – we want your tale.

Submissions must be related to the overall theme of a common humanity, yet entries related to the specific topic of AIDS are highly encouraged.

To have yourself stand out more in The Blog Honour Roll, the catalogue for entrants of Writers For Humanity’s World Aids Day 2007 event, please submit a short biography of any length up to 500 words, along with a photo/promo shot (can be a jacket design or flyer) of approximately 200 x 200 pixels in size.

All pieces will be voted upon by the Web For Humanity audience via online polling, for ultimate inclusion in the inaugural two-CD Music For Humanity boxed set, to be made available through online publisherLulu.com on December 10, 2007. 100% of all profits from the sale will be donated to The Global Fund.

If I Could Change The World

Change is never easy. It disrupts the familiar, breaks the concrete and comfortable routine, and takes time to adjust to. It can come about as the result of a great conflict or upheaval, with heavy tolls that can continue to tax for years, decades, or even centuries.

Perhaps the greatest advantage to change is the potential for change to bring about the greatest common good. For change to effect millions of lives in a positive way; to ensnare the lively spirit and the visionary imagination of the human species – this is the type of change that frees and supplants the engendered and ingrained patterns of the world. To dream of a better world is free – one needs never to stop the dreaming.

With this in mind, Web for Humanity invites the children of the world to submit a dream – or as many as they’d like, to Blogging For Humanity on World AIDS Day, 2007. Parents – it’s time for your kids to break out the crayons and the imagination, and to share the magic with us.

Submissions are open to whatever it is you can dream about. You have permission to dream, as much as possible. There is no limit to the number of submissions you can make to this initiative.

A frozen moment, with motion, sound, and other sensual distractions removed, has the ability to translate through the intense focus of a single frame that which language cannot do in a single word. To transcend the verbose and engage with direct emotional understanding; to invoke shock, spectactle, and awe; to liberate intensity from the distorted feedback of a visual continuum – these are the responsibilties of the world’s photographers as they catalogue our woes; our triumphs; our sentiments; and the splendor of the natural world.

We are calling for you to enter your photos or pictures to help us raise money for The Global Fund, an organisation dedicated to allocating the funds needed to combat AIDS, Malaria, and Tuberculosis around the world.

Submissions to Visions For Humanity are not restricted to photographs only. If you are an illustrator, digital artist, cartoonist, or work with a more traditional medium and can capture the emotion of a powerful moment, we’d love to see your work.

Submissions must be related to the overall theme of a common humanity, yet pictures related to the specific topic of AIDS are highly encouraged. The widest range of emotions are being sought: joy; sadness; suffering; happiness; beauty – there is a place for every picture related to the human condition – and there is no limit to the amount of images you may enter. Your submitted image must be sized to dimensions exceeding no more than 500 pixels wide or high (we can reformat this through code or software if this is a problem for you). In order to have your movie submitted to The Blog Honour Roll, please ensure that it is uploaded to the Visions For Humanity group on Flickr.com.

Film has the awesome power of being immediately confrontational, infusing the visual with a crackling mirage of truth, beauty, and illusion. From the necessary suspension of disbelief in order to appreciate the fictional plot, through to the disbelief and anger felt via the foundation rocking facts of seminal political documentaries, the lover of cinema and film knowns the galvanising and transportational effect of a message well delivered via this medium. In calling for you to submit your short film to Film For Humanity on World AIDS Day, 2007, we are calling for you to engage us with the same awesome and life-changing power.

We are calling for you to enter your short film to help us raise money for The Global Fund, an organisation dedicated to allocating the funds needed to combat AIDS, Malaria, and Tuberculosis around the world.

Submissions to Film For Humanity are not genre-specific and, as with Music For Humanity, we believe that an eclectic range of styles embodies the dynamic nature of the human spirit. Comedy; animation; drama; documentary – whatever style you work in is ok for us to work with.

Submissions must be related to the overall theme of a common humanity, yet entries related to the specific topic of AIDS are highly encouraged. The total running time of your film should be no longer than 10 minutes. In order to have your movie submitted to The Blog Honour Roll, please ensure that it is uploaded to the Film For Humanity group on Youtube.com.

Poetry For Humanity

The poem is the language of the world, the greatest mode of literary transport known to humankind. It can do more than prose, in less space. A poem can provide solace for the lonely; a hearth for the lost; a voice for the disenfranchised; balm for the tired mind. It can silence the cynic, or seed crops for the next generation of literary dissidents to harvest. A great poem is resonant, as potent 100 years later as it was at the time of writing. It doesn’t have anything more than it needs to make its point, or presence felt. It is there in the rites of passage: amongst the first rhythms heard in the nursery; amongst the vows of marriage; furnishing the exit with recital at a funeral.

Poets have been called the “technicians of the sacred”. In essence, they are the reeds through which the greater wind of the universal is blown. This is to say that the poet is not the most important part of the making of a poem. It is the sacred: it is always the sacred. The poem is greater than the creator. And it is exactly this type of poetry, the type that is imbued with the sacred, the universal, that the Web of Humanity is searching for. Poetry that is bold in making us remember who we are; poetry that will confront the disorders of our age with a fearless glare; poetry for the common soul – the puncher of clocks; the tiller of soils; the makers of homes – those whose hands are dirty with the day.
